Science on the move with OGDC
The Oil and Gas Centre (OGDC)
received their 'OGDC Van' on Thursday, during the official handing
over ceremony at OGDC, a press release from BSP said.
The van will enable OGDC to embark on
a more proactive approach towards promoting science and technology
education by doing mobile road shows at different schools and
education centres in Brunei Darussalam.
In return, this will provide a great
outreach and interaction to the people - especially school children -
and eventually bring them closer to OGDC.
According to Awg Iskandar Alias, Head
of Operations at OGDC, "The van will support our 'science on the move'
programme. OGDC team will venture out to schools and community centres
promoting science."
"As some of our exhibits such as the
interactive exhibits or puzzles are transportable, we will be able to
use it as our demo for the science shows. This will demonstrate an
educational enrichment, where learning about science is fun and
interesting," he added.
On hand to present the van was Awg Hj
Mahmud Hj Adris, Head Department of Transport and Logistics Services (STL)
of Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP), to Awg Haji Zainal Abidin Haji Mohd
Ali, Deputy Managing Director of BSP.
The ceremony continued with a 'tepung
tawar' ceremony led by Awg Haji Zainal Abidin to mark the blessing
ceremony.
OGDC
was officially opened by His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of
Brunei Darussalam on Sept 14, 2002 and to date, has draw about 30,000
visitors.
Within a year, OGDC has organised
more than 200 activities and will expand with the completion of its
education centre by the end of this year.
