Blurry road signs blamed for car accident in Seria

Missing or blurry road repair signs not clearly visible at night were allegedly the main reason that caused an accident along Jalan Seria, Lumut Bypass on Thursday night.

In an incident that occurred at about 8pm, a vehicle that came from the old road at the vicinity of Jalan Sungai Bera Anduki collided with a vehicle that came from Kuala Belait which was on its way to Labi.

Awang Jufri, one of the drivers involved in the accident, said that despite his efforts to apply brakes on time, his car failed to draw to a halt. He also noted that there was a steamroller parked by the side of the road.

Awang Jufri who sustained injuries on both his legs managed to get out from his car and help the other driver out of his car. Both drivers were rushed to Suri Seri Begawan Hospital in Kuala Belait.

Eye witnesses who were also at the scene also confirmed the allegation that the road sign informing on the road repairs and maintenance were unclear making it impossible to read it at night. These according to them contribute to the common accident in the area.
