Man Who Robbed 73-Yr-Old Woman Released On Bail

Bandar Seri Begawan - The 33-year-old Bruneian suspected of stealing one handbag containing $300 and six gold rings from a 73-yearold woman was released by the Magistrate's Court yesterday on $1,000 court bail or one local surety.

Hush bin Tasan's plea has not been recorded. He will appear in the courthouse again on November 30 for further mention, said the Prosecuting Officer Pg Nina Jasmine Pg Hj Bahrin yesterday.

The alleged defendant was charged, with one other still at large, with committing the theft on October 1, this year at Kedai Runcit Hajjah Piah binte Othman, in which the said items belonged to Hajjah Piah.

In the last hearing, the prosecution applied for the defendant to be remanded at the Berakas Police Station for further investigations to be conducted.

The prosecution was also waiting for a medical report on the older woman who was believed to have been injured in the incident. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
