Gun-Toting Malaysian Remanded

Begawan - The 45-year-old Malaysian who had in his possession
two unlicensed rifles at a house in Kampong Sengkarai, Tutong was
further remanded for another two weeks at the Jerudong Prison.
The Deputy Public Prosecutor
yesterday applied for two weeks adjournment in order to seek further
instruction from the Public Prosecutor regarding the case.
The defendant, Kesah bin Sulaiman
allegedly had the two rifles on or about the September 9 this year at
a house No 88 in Simpang 64 Jalan Pengasing, Kampong
Sengkarai
in Tutong, without a license issued by the licensing officer_
The defendant was also charged with
staying in this country unlawfully after the expiry of his employment
pass, which is an offence punishable under section 15 (2)(b) of the
Immigration Act (Chapter 17).
However no plea has been taken on
both charges.
He is now facing imprisonment for a
term of not less than 5 years and not more than 15 years and shall be
punished with whipping of not less than 3 strokes and not more than 12
strokes for having the rifles.
The case will be mentioned again on
