By Malai FadleyRizal

Bandar Seri Begawan - A 32-year-old local was given four days to prepare his mitigations while remanded at Jerudong Prisons for a charge of theft that he pleaded guilty to before the Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Deputy Public Prosecutor, Syed Azmal Syed Ali, told the court that Abdul Manaf Hj Besar stole some jewellery, two Army Captain's epaulettes, a key to a scooter, a glove, a bag and some golf accessories, all belonging to Jafar Ali Hj Othman.

Senior Magistrate Hj Abdullah Soefri heard that the defendant entered Jafar's house at No C2 in Jalan SOAS, Berakas Camp through the sliding doors of the back entrance in December last year.

He then stole the said items, put them in his car, and went to the house next door when, the owner of the house came in, blocked the defendant's car parked in front and asked him what he was doing there.

Soon after, Jafar Ali came and also approached the defendant.

Jafar peeked into Abdul Manaf's car and found his things in it. He also checked the car's boot and found more of his stuff kept inside.

The defendant was then handed over to the Military Police and was held until the police came to detain him.

Abdul Manaf will be brought again before the court on Monday for sentencing. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
