Brunei Eyeing To Become Major Regional Cyber Hub

Bandar Seri Begawan – Brunei is ambitious to become a cyber hub and as one of the major hubs for telecommunications and multimedia services in this region.

According to Pehin Dato Awang Haji Zakaria, Minister of Communications, this will be made possible by large investments in building the national information infrastructure or 'Ragam 21'.

Pehin Zakaria disclosed this while entertaining the participants, delegates and guests of the Asean-EC International Conference 'the k-Economy: Competitiveness, survival and growth' to a cultural night and dinner at the Empire Hotel and Country Club in Jerudong on Wednesday night.

The Minister also said that more than $900 million has been awarded to the development of ICT, which includes e-Government projects and initiatives. -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
