Kg Ayer all over, as flash floods drain the nerves
By Cedrina Clark

Flooded road at Ban 4.

Overgrown grass clogging the drains.

With the inter-monsoonal rains on, areas in Sengkurong, especially at Ban 2-A, Ban 3, Ban 4, Jalan Sungai Tampoi, have been seeing flooding. Just yesterday afternoon, in Ban 4, Sungai Tampoi, many drains were clogged and filled to the brim with rain water. Some were stagnant.

A phletora of plastic bags, black bins, plastic bottles were bobbing in the drains and an eyesore. Blankets of wild grass, shrubs, and lallang were thriving inside the drain, making it easily clogged by littering, and unable to drain the storm water.

People have long suggested that the drains be widened and cleaned and cleared up ... but alas. The last time it rained non-stop, as it has been these past few nights, Jalan Sungai Tampoi looked like a little Kg Ayer. Vehicles cannot get through at Jalan Sungai Tampoi and some houses were slightly submerged.
