By Rosli Abidin Yahya

Local veteran actress Pg Hjh Rokiah is to star in a joint-venture
drama production.
A local production company has come
to an agreement with a Sabah production company to produce a Malay
telemovie entitled 'Dayangku.' For this drama, 20 per cent of the
filming will be done in Brunei Darussalam.
The agreement was penned by the
adviser of the local Phab Production, Pg Kerma Negara Pg Anak Hj Abd
Wahab bin Pg Sabtu Kamaluddin, and the executive chairman of Pelangi
Production, YB Senator Datuk Hjh Dayangku Mahani bte Tun Pengiran Haji
Ahmad Rafaee at the Crowne Princess Hotel Restaurant a few days ago.
The filming of the drama will
commence next week in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah and some three Bruneians
will star in the production, including the leading actress who will
assume the role Dayangku.
On completion, the drama will be
reproduced on VCDs for sale to the public, and will later be aired on
a reputable Malaysia television station.
Some three roles will be assumed by
Bruneians, while the rest will be by Sabahans.
The Managing Director of Phab
Production, Pg Hj Abu Bakar bin Pg Dato Paduka Hj Mohamad, the
joint-producer of the telemovie project will assume the role of the
father to the leading actress, while Pg Hjh Rokiah Pg Hj Abdullah will
play her mother.
Talking to the Borneo Bulletin
yesterday, Pg Hj Abu Bakar said the leading actress who will assume
the role of Dayangku is currently being scrutinised.
"We are currently selecting the
leading role from a number of local candidates. The drama script
called for the leading actress to be a Bruneian girl," he said.
He said the story revolved around a
family who quarrels amongst family members over inheritance.
The feud causes one of the brothers
to run away and start a new life elsewhere. The run-away brother
achieves success in a new place. After his death, the daughter tries
to discover her roots.
