Bandar Seri
Begawan – Brunei enjoys a stable socio-economic and political
development compared to other nations.
Dato
Dr Haji Ahmad, Minister of Development, attributed this stability to
the previous as well as current generations and leadership who helped
determine the comfort of today's community life.
Speaking at the Habitex Exposition
2003 and the Customers Day of the Housing Development Department
yesterday, the minister said that the present generation led by His
Majesty the Sultan of Brunei continues its responsibility to ensure
the comfort of the residents and the prosperity of the nation for
better future.
This is the fifth time the Housing
Development Department plays host to such an expo, held in conjunction
with the World Habitex Day 2003.
The event is celebrated every Monday
on the first week of October.
It provides an opportunity for local
companies to exhibit their products and other related technology in
the construction industry.
Some 25 companies are taking part by
promoting building construction materials, interior design, furniture
making and building safety equipment.
The event also introduces new
products apart from creating networking for joint ventures in the
business.
The Housing Customers Day, on the
other hand, gives house owners and tenants of temporary housing, shops
and business premises a chance to settle their outstanding loans or
rents.
Until December last year, more than
26,000 applicants had been approved for the National Housing Scheme
and the Landless Indigenous Housing Scheme.
The lists include applicants who are
allocated houses and land lots.
The week-long exhibition is taking
place at the Housing Development Department and the Electrical
Services Department. It is open to the public from 8.30 am until 8.00
pm. -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
