Badaruddin
Bandar Seri
Begawan – Representatives from Brunei, China, Malaysia and
Indonesia delivered 17 working papers at the close of the three-day
seminar on Brunei History last night.
Pehin Dato Ustaz Haji Awang
Badaruddin, Chairman of Board of Directors of the Sultan Haji Hassanal
Bolkiah Foundation, said at the closing ceremony that history remains
among the important knowledge that needed to be learnt by people in
the country.
“Research followed with writing and
discussions are hoped to be effective not only in maintaining the
importance of history as a branch of knowledge but, more importantly,
because of the moral values that history teaches,” he said.
He added that historians, students
and history enthusiasts, including organisations such as the Brunei
History Association have the role to find, dig and research the Brunei
history in particular, and other nations’ history which are related to
the region in general.
At the ceremony, the resolution of
the seminar was forwarded to Pehin Dato Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin.
The resolution, among other things,
underlined that the writing of the Brunei National History should be
undertaken by Bruneians on the basis of the Brunei centric
perspective.
The seminar was co-organised by the
Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation and the Brunei History Centre.
