Labour Dept, Police conduct spot-checks
By Azlan Othman

Labour Enforcement officials carrying out checks on foreign workers.

Foreign workers who were in violation of the Labour and Immigration Acts came under scrutiny in spots-checks carried out yesterday around the Kg. Masin area. The operation codenamed 'Sinar 34', which targetted three areas, was led by Senior Labour Inspector Awg Rosli, and Acting DSO of Sengkurong police station Insp Samsul.

At Simpang 559, Kg Masin, a foreign national was detained and may be facing deportation for abusing his quota by undertaking other employment.

A local employer was also issued a warning in the raid as the licenses of his 28 employees were found to have expired seven months ago. He was instructed to renew them as soon as possible.

In another area, a foreign worker was questioned and brought to the police station for failing to show valid immigration documents.
