Bandar Marks of 33rd Anniversary
Of Name-Change

Begawan - To mark the 33rd anniversary of the Renaming of
Bandar Brunei as Bandar Seri Begawan, three events were held
yesterday.
In the morning, two events took
place, namely, "Senam Ria" and "Pcraduan Mewarna Lukisan Bagi
Kanak-Kanak" at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar Ali Saifuddien.

Paduka Awang Haji Adanan launched the events and took part in the
early morning aerobics exercise.
Hundreds of children aged between 3
and 9 years old took part in the colouring competition, which was
divided into various age groups.
In the afternoon, the preliminary
rounds of the Brunei Strongest Man Competition was held at Taman Haji
Sir Muda Omar Ali Saifuddien where 38 individuals took part in three
gruelling events.
Before the start of the competition,
Chairman of the Municipal Board, Awang Saji bin Haji Mudin greeted the
participants and the organising committee.
The participants were divided into
five groups and the winners of each group advanced to the final, which
will be held next Sunday morning.
In yesterday's competition, each
participant had to lift a huge stone and run 100m, flip over a
bulldozer's tyre over 100m and drag a truck for over 100m.
The on-going celebration include a
Go-Cart Race on 19th October at the parking lot of the National
Stadium in Berakas and a Radio Control Boat Competition on 26th
October at Taman Jubilee Perak Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.
