Malaysians mark Family Day

Malaysians and their Malaysian
friends yesterday morning gathered as a big family at the Malaysia
Family Day 2003 at the Jerudong Park Playground.
The day-long event was graced by the
High Commissioner to Brunei, Tan Sri Mohd. Jamil Johari, who also took
in the various fun-filled event.
The annual event was organised
through the joint efforts of Persatuan Warganegara Malaysia (PWM) and
Persatuan Kebajikan Melayu SeMalaysia (PKMS) based in Brunei to
commemorate the 46th National Day of Malaysia.
More than 20 sports events were open
to families, adults and children.
The highlight was the tug-of-war
contest between the High Commission staffs and PWM Association. The
event for children included colouring contest, golf putting, and
dressing up father, family treasure hunt and a lot more.
The objectives of the Family day were
to gather all Malaysian community in a big family to enjoy and compete
in the various sports activities as well as to foster closer ties and
relationships among Malaysian and non-Malaysian friends joining the
event.
The event also provided an
opportunity for all Malaysians to gather and enjoy the camaraderie in
a spirit of family bonding and togetherness and also to encourage
closer rapport with Bruneians and other races joining in the event.
There were food stalls selling
various kinds of Malaysian delicacies and cuisine. The winners at the
contest walked away with attractive prizes presented by High
Commissioner Tan Sri Mohd. Jamil.
