Two Plead Not Guilty To Theft

Begawan - Two men pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate's Court
yesterday to theft of building materials worth $18,500 from a
warehouse in Lumut twelve days ago.
The defendants, Md Yusof Hj Sarbini,
39, and Md Hazwan Mohd Halim, 35, denied stealing one lot of pipe
bracket worth $1,500, two stainless steel pipes ($2,000), four
concrete huckets ($12,000), a half-truck of scrap metal ($1,500) and
six brackets of oxygen cylinders ($1,500).
Both allegedly committed the offence
on Sept 24 this year between 8am to 10am at warehouse Syarikat Sainah
Alias Enterprise near BLNG Lumut.
They also denied the charge of
committing mischief with a common intention to stealing the wire
fencing of the warehouse valued at $1,200.
The two also pleaded not guilty to a
charge of committing theft with a common intention of stealing
electric cable and copper weighing 19 kg worth $1,500 from the
enterprise.
According to the prosecuting officer,
the two face an imprisonment of 3 years or with a fine or both for the
two theft offences and 5 years with whipping of not less than 2
strokes for committing mischief, if found guilty.
Both men were released on court bail
of $5,000 of 2 local sureties each yesterday by Magistrate Dk Masni Pg
