Twenty-Six Racers Join Four-wheel Drive Competition

Tutong Some 26 four-wheel drive vehicles are competing in the motorised race 4x4 Challenge 2003 at Sungai Besar in the district.

The competition is part of several events arranged in conjunction with the anniversary of renaming Bandar Brunei to Bandar Seri Begawan.

The two-day race is the first such event organised by the Gerakan Pakatan Pemuda Sukarela Tutong. It is categorised into standard and extreme

The participants, who include contestants from neighbouring countries, are new and experienced drivers of four-wheel drive vehicles.

For the standard category, the vehicles used must be free from any modification.

The competitors are required to drive a 3.5 kilometre route of mud and potholes.

The extreme category is for modified vehicles where the skill of drivers is tested on even muddier and slippery terrain.

The challenge continues today at same venue. -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
