Twenty-Six Racers Join Four-wheel
Drive Competition
Tutong
– Some 26 four-wheel drive vehicles are competing in the
motorised race 4x4 Challenge 2003 at Sungai Besar in the district.
The competition is part of several
events arranged in conjunction with the anniversary of renaming Bandar
Brunei to Bandar Seri Begawan.
The two-day race is the first such
event organised by the Gerakan Pakatan Pemuda Sukarela Tutong. It is
categorised into standard and extreme
The participants, who include
contestants from neighbouring countries, are new and experienced
drivers of four-wheel drive vehicles.
For the standard category, the
vehicles used must be free from any modification.
The competitors are required to drive
a 3.5 kilometre route of mud and potholes.
The extreme category is for modified
vehicles where the skill of drivers is tested on even muddier and
slippery terrain.
The challenge continues today at same
venue.
