Education begins at home

Parents are urged to be responsible for educating their children and they must not place this duty solely on the shoulder of the teachers at school.

This statement was expressed by Imam Hj Anuar bin Mohd Yusof, the chief guest as well as the chairman of school, teachers and parents committee of Bengkurong Primary School, Brunei III, at this year joint teachers' day celebration for Bengkurong Primary School and Pengiran Muda Abdul Malik Bengkurong Religious School held yesterday.

Imam Hj Anuar also stressed the significance of both parents and teachers to monitor closely the matters that involve students' conduct on top of educational performance.

Head teacher of Bengkurong Primary School, Malai Jusnani bte Sheikh Nikman also repeated the above points on her speech to represent the celebrated teachers. A 'Reading Programme' will be introduced at the Bengkurong Primary School next year to respond to the Ministry of Education cultural programme initiated recently.
