Filipino Nicks Photograph Negatives and Lands In Jail
By Malai FadleyRizal

Bandar Seri Begawan - Filipino Romeo Alialy, 35, was jailed for two months yesterday when he pleaded guilty before the Magistrates’ Court to stealing photograph negatives.

Romeo was charged with stealing 23 pieces of photograph negatives valued at $50 from Amaninazmi Elegant Bridal Photo Studio.

Prosecuting officer Adina Mohd Aliddin told the court that a customer named Masyanti had her picture taken at the photo studio on April 10 this year and was told to pick them up on April 18.

However, the defendant, a former employee at the company called Masyanti on April 25 and said that he could sell the negatives for just $50 and told her that the photo shop would sell it to her for $100.

Masyanti refused and came to pick up her pictures at the shop the next day.

The shop attendant at that time, Law, couldn’t find the negatives anywhere in the shop.

The court further heard that Masyanti called up the defendant on June 8 and told him to meet her at a fast food outlet the next day.

She waited for Romeo at the place and when Romeo arrived, CID personnel who found and seized 23 pieces of photograph negatives on him arrested him.

He admitted to the officers. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
