Murder Suspect On Remand Until November Hearing

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Magistrate’s Court yesterday further remanded Dayang Sarimah binte Mohd Said, 39, the wife of the late 41-year-old Awang Mahmud Haji Ismail who was found dead in a fire recently.

Senior Magistrate Hj Abdullah Soefri ordered her to be further remanded at Jerudong Prison for another two weeks until the next mention date on October 16 at 9 am on an application made yesterday by the Deputy Public Prosecutor Dyg Aldila Hj Md Salleh.

The defendant will have to appear in the Magistrate’s Court every two weeks until the preliminary inquiry scheduled for November 4 for a week.

Counsel Mr Sheikh Noordin of Sheikh Noordin Mohammad Advocates and Solicitors is representing Dayang Sarimah. The counsel yesterday told the court that he will be calling in four witnesses during the preliminary enquiry.

She is currently charged with murdering her husband on June 24 sometime between 2am to 3 am at their house in Sg 363-73-13-4, No 8D RPN, Kampong Pandan 7, in Kuala Belait. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
