Iraqi Humanitarian Aid Gets Over
79,473 Collection

Begawan - The Humanitarian Aid Fund for the Iraqi people
yesterday received several more contributions from the caring society
of the country.
Receiving the contributions on behalf
of the fund was the co-adviser of the fund committee, Pehin Dato (Dr)
Hj Awg Hussein Hj Mohd Yusof, the Minister of Culture, Youth and
Sports.
The handing over of the donations was
held at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
Leading the line of yesterday’s
donors was the donation from spouses of Cabinet Ministers, Deputy
Ministers, Private and Confidential Secretary to His Majesty the
Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Permanent
Secretaries, Deputy Permanent Secretaries and their allies.
Handing over the donation on behalf
of the group of spouses was the spouse of the Minister of Home
Affairs, Seri Laila Pengiring DiRaja, Datin Seri Utama Dyg Hjh Rosnah
Abdullah.
The presentation was then followed by
the donation of $1,479 from Officers and Staff of the Museums
Department, which was presented by Director of Museums, Awg Hj Metasim
Hj Jibah. Next, a contribution of $2,000 collected from a bazaar held
by officers and staff of the Municipal Department, was handed over by
its Administrative Officer Grade 1, Awg Hj Amiruddin Hj Mohd Hassan.
The presentation concluded with the
donation from the Christian Community of Bandar Seri Begawan, which
was represented by the Head of the Catholic Church, Monsignor
Cornelius Lim, who handed over the $9,404 cheque.
A press releases from the Ministry of
Culture, Youth and Sports stated that the total amount of donations
received since the fund was opened on October 1, 2003 was $66,590
(from 42 donors), not including yesterday’s donations, which totalled
