St James' School honours teachers

Teachers of St James' School perform a cultural dance.
The Board of Governors, (BOG) of
Saint James' School paid tribute to its teachers by honouring them in
a special dinner at the Riviera Hotel Restaurant in Kuala Belait.
The School's Chairman, Mr. Paul Chia
thanked all the teachers for their kind support and contribution to
the growth and improvement of the school.
Paul then outlined the school's
vision for the next school year which will focus on the school's
active campaign to promote the use of English Language.
The school's new principal, Awg Hj
Abu Bakar bin Hj Md Paun thanked the BOG for their show of support in
all projects for the school.
He stressed the vital role of the
teachers in the realisation of all the projects that he wants to
implement.
He told the teachers that there would
be more changes in the school in which the students are the main
beneficiary.
The celebration was livened up with
the impressive performances of 15 teachers who belted out romantic and
ballad song numbers to the delight of their fellow teachers.
The Karaoke Talent quest was done for
the first time in this auspicious occasion.
Mr. Enrico Isles Ayala was voted as
the Champion singer for the competition followed by Ms Chia Siew Ngo
and Hj Daud bin Akup who won the second and third prize respectively.
The celebration became livelier when
13 teachers competed in a Fancy Dress competition.
They were dressed up in bizarre
outfits and paraded on the ramp as if they were supermodels.

Marhayati who wore a Japanese "Kimono" the traditional dress for the
ladies in Japan was unanimously declared as the first prize winner.
Several teachers were also recognised
for their long and dedicated services to the school.
Mr. Asokan Nagarajah, Sheikh Mohd Ali
and Danny Lee were the recipients of the 10 Years Long Service Award,
while Ms Tu Chai Hiong for 15 Years and Mr. Leopoldo Padlan and Ms
Julia Suen for the 20 Years of Long Service Award.
A number of lucky teachers brought
home special prizes for the lucky draws such as cell-phone, electric
drill, microwave oven and decorative vases.
The night was indeed a very memorable
one for all teachers.
