World Ranking Junior Tennis Players In Brunei

Seria - Several world ranking junior players are taking part in the 30th Brunei International Junior Tennis tournament, which is currently held at the Panaga Club's golf course in oil town Seria.

Four players are representing the host, Brunei.

Altogether 50 boys and 16 girls from 16 countries are taking part in the week-long championship to seek ranking points to join the top professional tennis players.

Chinese Taipei is sending a 14-member team including two players who are ranked at number 23 and 44.

Also taking part is Sergiy Bubka who ranked 113th from Ukraine and the son of pole vault legend Sergey Bubka, the Olympic gold medalist and six times world champion.

A total of 116 matches are expected to take place. Yesterday alone, some 16 matches were competed.

The opening ceremony of the tournament was held yesterday afternoon. The prestigious event is being organised by the Brunei Darussalam Tennis Association.-- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
