Fees Imposed For Entry Into Fish Landing Complex

Bandar Seri Begawan - More than 35 fishing vessels are using the fish landing complex in Muara and Belait and to regulate its use, the Fisheries Department is enforcing regulations on the use of vehicles entering the complex, the department has announced.

Awang Ishak Bin Awang Jarudin a representative from the Fisheries Department highlighted the matter during a briefing for local fish entrepreneurs but added that however the owner of any unregistered vehicle who wishes to enter the complex will have to pay an entrance fee.

Starting on January 1, 2004, under the Fishing Act, Regulations on Fish Landing Complex 2002, anyone using the complex needs to have a permit and will have to pay for the services.

Entrepreneurs are advised to contact the Muara Fish Landing Complex section directly for the procedure for the permit and services.

An offender under this act will be liable to a maximum fine of $2,500 and one year in jail or compound fines. -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
