China Imports 13 Percent Of Brunei Oil Says Ambassador

Bandar Seri Begawan - Trade between China and Brunei in 2002 reached US$263 million, an increase of 59% over the previous year, making it an all time high and China's annual import of petroleum from Brunei constitutes 13% of Brunei’s total annual export.

The Chinese Ambassador, Mr Wei Wei, said that China and Brunei are friendly neighbours whose relationship symbolizes friendship, cooperation and equality between big and small countries.

He was speaking at a reception to mark 54th National Day of the People’s Republic of China.

He said that the strong ties between two countries are most evident in bilateral cooperation in many fields such as agriculture, fisheries and tourism.

He further added that bilateral trade in other sectors has also shown encouraging growth.

Earlier Pehin Dato Haji Abdul Rahman the Industry and Primary Resources minister the Guest of Honour said that the bilateral relations have been developing smoothly in the past 12 years after the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1991.

Through visits by ministerial from both countries, it is safe to say that the current friendly relations between two countries are at their best.
