Simpang 295 Is Now The Commonwealth Drive

Bandar Seri Begawan - The road leading to new Finance Ministry building has been named "Commonwealth Drive", in conjunction with the Commonwealth Finance Ministers Conference held in the country recently.

Dato Haji Yakub The Deputy Minister of Finance announced this adding that His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei has consented to give the name 'Commonwealth Drive' to the Simpang 295 leading to the Finance Ministry building.

His Majesty had also named the palm trees lining the road, after the 54 Commonwealth nations.

The announcement was made at a Doa Kesyukuran Ceremony organised by the Finance Ministry for Brunei's success in holding and chairing the Commonwealth Finance Ministers Meeting (CCMM) 2003, in Bandar Seri Begawan early this month.  -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
