Victorious attempt by CHMS BSB
students

Chung Hwa Middle School students that scored distinctions.
A group of 40 students from Chung Hwa
Middle School, BSB managed to score high distinctions in the
International Competitions for Schools (English) 2003, organised by
the University of New South Wales. From the group, Rachel Wong Ming
Hui was awarded a gold medal for her winning performance.
The school principal, Mdm. Kho Guik
Lan was very satisfied with the results as they show the standard of
English in the School is improving by leaps and bounds.
The English Department is exploring
ways of making teaching and learning English more stimulating. The
last five years have been the turning point for the English Department
with its implementation of new teaching methods, particularly after
the introduction of the 'Reading Scheme'. The scheme introduces
students to a variety of literary material with the use of computer
assisted teaching and learning strategy, and students now find
learning English a fun-filled experience.
Through their access to programmed
instructional modules in the PC's, each student is given a chance to
progress at his/her own pace. Hopefully, in years to come, when
students of this pilot project have reached Form 5, the fruit of our
labour would be significantly reflected in the GCE 'O' Level
Examination results.
