New rule for fish landing complex
Operators of more than 35 fishing
vessels are using the fish landing complexes. To regulate the use of
the landing complexes, the Fisheries Department is enforcing a
regulation on the use of vehicles entering the complexes, RTB reported
last night.
The matter was highlighted by a
representative from the Fisheries Department, Awang Ishak bin Awang
Jarudin, during a briefing for local fisheries entrepreneurs. However,
he said the owner of any unregistered vehicle who wishes to enter the
complex in Muara and Belait will have to pay an entrance fee.
Starting on 1st January 2004 under
the Fishing Act, Regulations on Fish Landing Complex 2002, anyone
using the complex needs to have a permit and have to pay for the
services there.
Entrepreneurs are advised to contact
the Muara Fish Landing Complex Section directly for the procedure to
issue permit and services for the complex.
An offender under this Act will be
liable to a maximum fine of $2,500 and one-year imprisonment or
compound fine of one fifth of the maximum fine, RTB reported.
