State Mufti Dept, IBB sign MOU

Signing on behalf of the State Mufti Department was the State Mufti, Pehin Dato Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned and on behalf of IBB was its Chairman/Managing Director for IBB and TAIB, Pehin Orang Kaya Lela Raja Dato Seri Laila Jasa Haji Awang Abdul Rahman bin Haji Awang Abdul Karim.

The State Mufti said that although the agreement was signed yesterday, the cooperation was dated earlier than that.

"The bank without doubt has funded two major publication projects, the first was the Lawatan Negara: Satu Wadah Kerana Allah (National Visit book: A Vision for the cause of Allah) and the upcoming book on financial issues, a collection of the State Mufti Decrees 1962-1999 in Malay and English versions."

"The publishing of the books coincide with two major state events, the first was in conjunction with His Majesty's 53rd Royal Birthday and the latter will coincide with the APEC Economic Leaders Summit next month," said the State Mufti.

The Chairman and Managing Director of IBB Berhad and its subsidiaries in his speech said that the bank is honoured to make the joint commitments with the State Mufti Department in promoting Islamic knowledge.

The doa was read by Ustaz Haji Japar bin Haji Maidin.

The ceremony began with the recital of Surah Al-Fatihah by the Deputy State Mufti, Pehin Dato Uztaz Haji Awang Suhaili bin Haji Mohiddin.
