Waste management company is now
'100 per cent' Brunei firm
By Achong Tanjong

Haji Hamid Malai Mashhor, Chairman of HMM Group, and Mr. Jonny Kappen,
Managing Director of Reym BV in Holland signing the contracts.
Mashhor Waste Management Sdn Bhd is
now a "100 per cent" local company.
This follows the purchase of all of
the shares in the company by the local partner.
Mashhor Waste Management Sdn Bhd,
formerly known as Mashhor Reym Brunei and Mashhor Reym Charters, was
established as a joint venture company in 1980 by a "bumiputera"
company, Hj Malai Mashhor General Contractors, and Dutch-based Reym BV
of Holland, which specialises in this field.
Now, after 20 years of good
partnership Hj Malai Mashhor has bought all of the shares in the
company, and thus the company is now a 100 per cent local company.
In addition, the company has entered
into a technical agreement with Reym to ensure the future know-how in
the specialised field of waste solutions and business. Mashhor Waste
Management Sdn Bhd specialises in industrial cleaning, waste transport
and waste logistics.
Based in Seria, the company expanded
with satellite offices in Bandar Seri Begawan in 1986 and in Miri,
Sarawak in 1994. The company's move into East Malaysia was easily
achieved with the recognition of its excellent safety track record in
Brunei by the national oil companies.
The core activity of Mashhor Waste
Management Sdn Bhd Brunei is the provision of vacuum road tanker
services to BSP Co under long-term contracts. Other activities in
Brunei include the provision of municipal and industrial cleaning
services through call-off contracts with BSP, some Brunei government
departments and the private sector.
MWM Miri operations began with
assistance from Brunei but today the branch runs independently with
its own fleet of vacuum tankers.
Mashhor Waste Management Miri serves
clients such as Petronas, Sarawak Shell Bhd, SMDS, MLNG, ABF, Bintulu
Development Authority and Miri Municipal Council.
