Canadian classical pianist coming

Roger Lord.
The first Canadian classical
performance in Brunei will take place when award winning piano
soloist, Roger Lord will perform a concert on Tuesday, October 31st at
the Empire Hotel and Country Club.
"An additional performance will
be held at the Panaga Club in Kuala Belait on Monday, October
30," the Canadian High Commission said in a press release.
Mr. Lord has been the invited guest
and featured soloist of numerous music associations and producers
world wide. He has performed more than 30 concerts in Canada and 40 in
Europe.
"Most recently, he was just
finishing a concert tour in China, where he was invited back from a
previous successful tour to mark the 30th anniversary of relations
between China and Canada," said the High Commission.
"Mr Lord studied music in France
and Canada and obtained his Doctorate in Music from the University of
Montreal. Mr Lord's awards include first prize in both the Canadian
Music Competition and National Festival of Music."
He currently holds the position of
Professor of Music at the Universite de Moncton, in his home province
of New Brunswick.
His current touring programme
includes selections from Gershwin, Bach, Rameau, Ravel, Chopin,
Canadian composer Richard Gibson and Chinese folk tunes. Mr Neil
Reeder, the Canadian High Commissioner in Brunei said that it is an
honour to sponsor an artist of Mr Lord's calibre for the first
Canadian classical music concert in Brunei.
