Meaningful Activities For Children During School-Term Holidays

Bandar Seri Begawan - Parents are urged to make use of the year-end school term holidays with meaningful programs and activities for their children in order to educate them to become responsible citizens.

This was stated by Deputy Minister of Health, Pehin Dato Awe Haji Hazair bin Haji Abdullah, who was the guest of honor at Al-Falaah School's year-end Concert & Certificate Presentation ceremony held at Scout's Building yesterday.

He said parents should balance the holiday program for their children education, health, religious and social welfare.

"In educating the children use must not evade from the Islamic teaching principles that have been taught by Prophet Muhammad (phub), he said.

He said the school holidays are the best

opportunity fro students to widen their love for the country by visiting local places of historical interests.

Besides teaching children how to read, write and count at school, religious education also plays an important role apart from teaching them about personal hygiene and leading a healthy lifestyle.

They also need to know at an early stage the importance of oral care and eat healthy food in order to avoid obesity.

Earlier, the Deputy Principal of Al-Falaah School, Sharifah Mastura, in her speech said that the main reason Al-Falaah School was established was not only to educate children with religious and secular knowledge but also to inculcate pure Islamic values in the minds of the young children.

She also congratulated those students who did well in the recent P SR exams. She said the construction work on the new Al-Falaah School building in Kg Pulaie will start in April next year. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
