Prince Of Wales Meets British
Forces In Seria

- At least 300 British and Nepalese family members of the
British forces in Brunei gathered at the Garrison Sports Pitch in
Seria yesterday afternoon to warmly receive HRH Prince of Wales and
the Duchess of Cornwall who are on a two-day official visit to the
Sultanate.

HRH Prince
Charles visited the Seria British Garrison in his capacity
as the Colonel-in-Chief of the Gurkhas and 7 Flight Army Air
Corps. The royal couple arrived in Seria by helicopter at
the base of 7 Flight and attended a briefing by the
Commanding Officer of the British Garrison and First
Battalion of the Royal Gurkha Rifles Lt Colonel AJP Bourne
HRH Prince of Wales
received a royal salute and inspected 65 honor guards led by
their Commander Major Surendra Gurung.
Later the royal couple was
greeted by students and teachers from the Hornbill School as
well as British and Nepalese family members.

Their Royal Highnesses
viewed exhibitions of weaponry, bunkers, sleeping area
and sentry port that depict the soldiers' experience
during their recent deployment to Afghanistan. |
At the soldier's camouflage tent,
HRH Prince Charles met Lance Corporal Bhimabadur Gurung who was
recently awarded the Military Cross for saving a comrade during a
battle in Afghanistan. HRH Prince of Wales also spoke with 'B'
Company soldiers who had served with His Royal Highness' son, Prince
Harry. HRH Prince Charles received a photograph as a memento to mark
the Gurkha soldiers' memorable experience with Prince Harry in
Afghanistan.
Their Royal Highnesses proceeded to
greet soldiers from the 7 Flight Army Corps. Commanding Officer of
the 7 Flight Major Mike Whelan briefed them on the role of 7 Flight
which included providing an effective and deployable aviation unit
for humanitarian assistance for disaster relief, peace support
operations, counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency.
