National Business Conference Renews The Debate On Size
By Sonia K

Bandar Seri Begawan - As the National Business Conference 2007 draws nearer, the popular social website ranoadidas.com is running a poll asking its viewers "Can Small Be Beautiful?" The final results of the poll will be announced at the National Business Conference 2007. At the time of printing, the "Yes" option was gathering the most votes.

However, many people think that a small size is a limiting factor to growth and development opportunities for Brunei. Often, businesses in Brunei lament about the small market size. One of the sessions at the National Business Conference seeks to address this issue. The first session of the National Business Conference brings together Dr Paul Temporal, a branding expert who has worked on the "branding" of countries, Dr Linda Low, a strategist with the Abu Dhabi government, and Rasha Al Salleh, the Managing Director of the Young Arab Leaders based in Dubai.

Two prominent Bruneians will also be sharing how Brunei can be beautiful: YAM Pg Kerma Raja Pg Kamarulzaman bin PPSDSB Pg Dato Hj Ali, Chairman of the Sungai Liang Authority, and Dato Timothy Ong, Acting Chairman of the Brunei Economic Development Board. The session will look into how small countries, such as Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Singapore and others, can prosper regardless of size. The session will also examine what small countries and businesses need to do to in this globalising world.
