Mimi On Steady Path To Success
By Huraizah Ahmad

Bandar Seri Begawan - Following her role on the 8TV reality TV show `Teman,' Mimi Rahzia who was featured in the Bulletin earlier this year - continues her steady journey on the path to show business success in Malaysia.

Soon after the reality show took off, Brunei-bred Mimi Rahzia was booked for a number of gigs including auditions for commercial shoots, TV series and modelling contracts.

"With such a busy work schedule, I needed to be able to divide my time between my normal job at a commercial bank in Kuala Lumpur and my hectic and unpredictable job as a model and actor," said Mimi, who recently returned to Brunei to celebrate Hari Raya with her family.

"I had to make a decision. It was difficult at first... I knew in my heart that if I stopped pursuing my acting and modelling career, I would never know where it would take me. And, I do not want to look back in regret for the rest of my life. Besides, we won't stay young forever," she said.

Ever since the beginning of the year, Mimi Rahzia has received an overwhelming number of invitations for media interviews and photo shoots for the cover pages of magazines. This included Kosmo, Berita Harian, The Star, CLEO magazine, and The Sun.

Mimi was also booked for guest appearances in a number of TV programmes and beauty competitions - which she hosted - on top of other modelling shoots that she continued to do. This includes one for the Tourism Malaysia 2007 campaign.

Some of the most recent acting gigs that Mimi grabbed include a role in a drama series called `Iris' for Samarinda TV3. The show - directed by Amie Maziah featured six episodes, casting her alongside Rita Rudiani, Rosyam Nor, Arash Mohammad and Dato Jallaludin Hassan.

"There were times when the jobs took a toll on me... I almost gave up, but I am so grateful to have met Fauziah Nawi, a renowned Malaysian actor and director who took me under her wings and taught me a lot on the reality of showbiz," said Mimi.

While undergoing training with Fauziah Nawi, Mimi also performed in a theatrical performance 'Lorong Blues' that was directed by Fauziah, who also starred in the performance.

Her latest role in a Fair & Lovely telemovie called 'Kerana Ayah' sees her taking on the lead role as a village girl who goes by the name of Intan.

Kerana Ayah tells a story about Intan, a university graduate who would rather be with her family and help her dad run their cow farming business in the village.

Although Intan received a good offer for a promising job in the city, she is still reluctant to leave. The show - directed by Osman Ali - will be aired on November 9 and 10 at 7.30 pm on TV9.

"I hope the Brunei audience will be watching the telemovie on Friday and I hope they will enjoy the show," Mimi said.
