Sheraton Utama Associates Gather For A Food Cause By Huraizah Ahmad

Bandar Seri Begawan - A Starwood Associates Relief Fund charity campaign was opened at Poolside Terrace, Sheraton Utama Hotel in the capital, November 27. On hand to officiate the event was the hotel's executive assistant food and beverages manager George van Oosten.

Among those in attendance were executive committee members, heads of departments and associates of Sheraton Utama Hotel.

There will be a series of activities held at the hotel to encourage donations from associates towards the Starwood Associates Relief Fund, which is an ongoing fund that provides support to Starwood associates who face unexpected hardship due to situations or events outside of their control, such as tsunami and earthquake.

A charity bazaar will also be held on December 2, from loam to 2pm, to mark the conclusion of the one-week event.

Items on sale at the bazaar were contributions from the associates. Meanwhile, the "Star Finder" has been especially well received. Once a department at Sheraton Utama Hotel makes a monetary pledge, two representatives will be sent to search for hidden stars at the premises. The more stars are found, the more donations will go to the relief fund.

Associates who make a $5 donation to the fund are also allowed to wear jeans, sneakers or a t-shirt to work. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
