Musical In KL Attracts Bruneian

Begawan - Brunei's theatre activists were among the premiere
show's guests for a play entitled "Muzikal Pi Mai Pi Mai Tang Tu"
recently held at the Panggong Seri Istana Budaya in Kuala Lumpur.
The play is adapted from a popular
television sitcom programme of the same name on Malaysia's TV3. The
opening ceremony was officiated by Malaysian Minister of Culture,
Arts and Heritage, Datuk Seri Utama Dr Rais Yatim.
The guest of honour said that he
welcomed the theatrical performance after years of the long-running
sitcom. "The drama serial portrays a community of various races
living in harmony - an attractive metaphor of life in KL. `Pi Mai Pi
Mai Tang Tu' must be seen by all Malaysians, as the issues raised
are relevant and faced in daily life," he said.
Directed by Othman Hafsham, the
former director of Istana Budaya and .currently a lecturer of
Universiti Teknologi Mara Fakulti Teknologi Kreatif and Artistik,
the play will continue to run until Dec. 3.
Written by Dr HattaAzad Khan, it
stars Zami Ismail, Zaibo, Sabri Yunos, Khatijah Tan, Angeline Tan
and Imuda - the same actors who appeared on the TV programme. The
activists from Brunei led by Pg Hj Abu Bakar Pg DP Hj Mohammad said
they were impressed with the musical. Also in attendance were some
