Top Students In Sports School Awarded

Bandar Seri Begawan - Sports School students who excelled in academics as well as sports were recognised in an award presentation ceremony at the International Convention Centre yesterday evening.

Awang Arsad Bin Adis, Director of the CoCurriculum Department, Ministry of Education, presented the awards. Hj Khairul Mulzuddin Hj Ramli was named the best male athlete and Dayang Nurafifi Abdul Jalil was named the best female athlete. High academic achiever Sazulrinah Binti Hj Mohd Saat took home the best overall student's award in Form One. She topped in nine subjects.

"I felt very honoured and happy to receive the award," said Hj Khairul Mulzuddin Hj Ramli. The teenager wishes to be a record breaking sprinter in the future, following an impressive showing in this year's Youth Sports Festival, winning three gold in 100 metres, 200 metres and long jump events.

"There is no secret to my success, I just never give up. Try your best and follow what the coach says," he said. Dayang Nurafifi Abdul Jalil took two gold and two silver in this year's Youth Sports Festival.

"I was very surprised when they selected me as the best female athlete of the school," she said. "My secret is training and practising everyday," said the girl who joined the Sports School in 2004.
