RBTS Has Two New Leaders

Bandar Seri Begawan - By Command of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the monarch yesterday consented to two new appointments. Dato Paduka Haji Mustappa Haji Sirat, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defence will replace Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Utama Dato Seri Setia Haji Yahya bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar with the post of Temporary Acting Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Royal Brunei Technical Services Sdn Bhd (RBTS),

By the same measure, Datin Paduka Hajah Intan binti Haji Mohd Kassim, the Senior Special Duties Officer at the Ministry of Defence will replace Awang Haji Kamaruddin bin Dato Paduka Haji Abd Wahab as the Temporary Acting Chief Executive Officer of RBTS.

The appointments took immediate effect as of yesterday, November 28, 2006. RBTS is the sole authorised agent of His Majesty's government for certain equipment for the use of Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Royal Brunei Police Force and other lawfully established security forces of the government. RBTS is a wholly owned company of His Majesty's government and is the only company which has been given a license under the Monopolies Act. Under this same act, most international manufacturers, suppliers and repair centres are also required to deal directly with RBTS.

Its latest acquisition was for three Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPV) from BAE for the Royal Brunei Navy, that was signed in 1998.-- Courtesy ofThe Brunei Times
