Residents Of Mukim Seria At Hani Raya Get-Together By Hanni ABD

Bandar Seri Begawan - Over 100 residents of Mukim Seria gathered at the Pasarneka Seria to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri. The guest of honour at the event was the chairman of the Mashhor Group of Companies, Malai Hj Abd Hamid bin Hj Malai Mashhor.

In his welcoming speech, the penghulu of Mukim Seria, Awg Hj Jamail bin Hj Linap said the celebration was aimed at giving the residents of the mukim the chance to celebrate Aidilfitri together, even though the Hari Raya month of Syawal had already passed. Malai Hj Abd Hamid in his address, expressed his hope that "the celebration will encourage closer ties between residents of the mukim and their consultative councils." Cultural performances by members of the local Malay, Chinese and Iban communities further enlivened the event. The highlight of the night was the singing of Hari Raya songs by members of Chinese associations.

Also present at the Hari Raya celebration were the penghulu of Mukim Belait, Hj Pungut bin Hj Ali, the Special Duties Officer at the Belait District Office, Hj Sueb Rizal Hj Abd Malek, and the head of operations at the Seria Oil and Gas Discovery Centre, Awg Iskandar bin Hj Alias. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
