Bandar Seri
Begawan - The School Immersion Programme (SIP) participants
from Singapore were yesterday introduced to the Dam Marsal Primary
School in Berakas.
Thirty-three primary students and
six teachers from Nanyang Primary School, Singapore, are involved in
the SIP.
The morning saw the Datu Marsal
Primary School headmistress and teachers holding a sharing session
with their Singaporean counterparts.
The School Immersion Programme is
an educational exchange programme, involving students and officials
from other countries. The visiting party will participate in joint
programmes and activities with students and officials in the host
country.
This programme allows the visiting
pupils a chance to explore and broaden their experiences while in a
different school and environment. The SIP is organised by the
Science, Technology and Environment Partnership Centre (STEP Centre)
in partnership with Brunei Shell Petroleum Sdn Bhd, with the support
of the Centre for Learning and Training (CFLT) - which is a member
of Cyberland International Pte Ltd, Republic of Singapore.
The project aims to allow for the
strengthening of knowledge and interaction between Brunei and
Singapore-students.
This will ultimately enhance the
students awareness on the importance of respecting one another's
differences and similarities through friendship-. The programme runs
from November 20 to 26, and involves students of Primary IV and V.
Various activities have been lined up for the visiting students,
including a three-night stay with Bruneian families and trips to
several places of interest.-- Courtesy of Borneo
