Minister Calls For Classroom
'Evolution'
By P. Marilyn
Bandar Seri
Begawan - The classrooms of the future need to adapt and
evolve because as technology advances and knowledge about teaching
and learning expands, the world around them is likely to change,
said the Minister of Education.
He pointed out that all classrooms
are different and are likely to present unique circumstances that
may require teachers to try out new techniques to bring out the best
in learners who may not be receptive to traditional ways of
teaching. This was highlighted in his speech during the opening
ceremony of the 2nd Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Education (SHBIE)
Annual National Seminar and Workshop in Education or SANS WE 2006 at
Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD).
"In these times of rapid and
far-reaching changes in education, the development and sharing of
many viewpoints and ideas have become extremely valuable," said
Pehin Dato Awang Haji Abdul Rahman.
In view of this, he urged the
institution to play a lead role in influencing change in education,
through its research activities, dissemination of information and
training programmes.
"It must keep abreast with the
latest developments in education, look for evidence of best
practices and collaborate with key stakeholders for policy decision
and raising the quality of learning in the classrooms," added the
Minister.-- Courtesy of Borneo
