By Tony Alabastro
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Beats & Pieces, a live concert to mark the first
anniversary of Neoclassic Music School, will be held at the Royal
Berkshire Hall, Jerudong Polo Club, on Nov 20.
"Our students will be performing live
classical, pop, rock, jazz, folk music and Broadway music.
There will be songs in Malay,
Filipino, Chinese, English, German, Italian and Spanish," said Sharon
Ojeda Jusay, music school founder and principal.
"Our Junior Music Wizards ages three
to five will be performing. Enjoy our cute drummers four years and
above as they perform in ensembles and in the school band," she said.
"Our youngest student is a
one-year-old child, who appreciates music and reacts to classical
tunes. Numerous scientific researches have shown that music is
beneficial to the development of children, especially at a very young
age.
"Our oldest student is middle-aged.
We believe that everyone has the potential to be musically talented,
regardless of age or background.
"I have been teaching music for over
12 years," said Sharon, who grew up in Kuala Belait, where her parents
taught in government schools.
"I have seen my students achieve so
much and overcome their learning difficulties through their music
study. Various skills related to live are also developed, such as
self-confidence, social skills, self-discipline, mathematics skills,
and so on.
"Let's make it a special nigl4t to
remember. Support our music education programme," said Sharon, who
regularly attends Professional Development Programmes conducted by the
Associated Board of the Royal School of Music.
