Bahana Creative Prize Presentation

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Language and Literature Bureau yesterday held a Bahana Creative BSP-DBP 2005 prize presentation ceremony to award winners for their creativity in writing.

Present as guest of honour was Dr Mataim bin Bakar, Director of the Language and Literature Bureau, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, who later presented prizes to the winners.

Forty short stories written by 27 local writers were assessed and evaluated, of which only five were picked according to the criteria set for the Bahana Creative Prize 2005.

In the short story category, the five winners were "Seorang Perempuan Mengej ar Mulut" by Dyg Hjh Sabrina binti Haji Rajid, "Kemaruk" by Dyg Hjh Norsiah binti Haji Abdul Ghafar, "Resah-Resah Di Hati Zaimah" by Awg Tarif bin Haji Abd Hamid, "Kisah Cinta SMS" by Dyg Chin Mah Chin @ Amelly Ann Kissing and "Kelarai Sesat Taja" by-"Dyg Erna Herni binti Wasli.

According to the panel, the five winning stories were picked for their relevance to the human world, presenting difTerent views and perspectives on today's society. This reflects the writers' capabilities to broaden their imagination and envision the cause and consequences of events.

Meanwhile, in the "Puisi" category, 335 poems were evaluated, written by 48 local women writers and 71 local man writers. Out of that, five "Sajaks", one "Syair" and one "Pantun" were selected for the Bahana Creative Prize 2005.

The seven winners for the "Puisi" category were "Dari Lembah Ke Puncak" by Pg Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohammad bin Pg Abd Rahman, "Aku Sudah Terlalu Kewalahan Ma" by Awg Sheikh Mansor bin Sheikh Mohammad, "Kampungku Diuj ... Zaman" by Awg Haji Romzi bin Haji Hidup, "Tetamu" by Dyg Norsiah binti Haji Nayan, "Maha Pencipta" by Dyg Nurranizan Purwasih binti Asmat, "Syair Nabi Junjungan" by Awg Haji Suhaili bin Haji Matali and "Pantun Orang Di Baruh" by Pg Haji Aji bin Pg Hj Mohd Tahir.
