Man Denies Charge Of Impersonating A Cop

Bandar Seri Begawan - A 42-year-old local, charged with impersonating government officers, denied the accusation and claimed trial.

Abd Rahman bin Hj Lamat told the court that he will call two witnesses to testify in his favour against the prosecution's 10 witnesses.

The trial will take place from March 19-22 next year. The defendant is alleged to have pretended to be a police officer and examined a 39-year-old woman's house on October 18 at Haji Daud Flat in Jalan Gadong.

A second allegation stated that the defendant pretended to be an officer from the Religious Affairs Department and met with a person and informed him that he had committed a religious offence on October 18 at a restaurant in Bangunan Badiah, Simpang 5 in Jalan Gadong. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
