MoD Holds Aidilfitri Gathering

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Ministry of Defence and departments under it held a Hari Raya Aidilfitri gathering yesterday. Organised by the civilian and military personnel of the ministry, the festivity was held at the Royal Brunei Air Forces (RBAirF) Cook House Hall in Rimba.

Present as the guest of honour was Pehin Colonel (Rtd) Dato Paduka Hj Mohammad Yasmin bin Hj limar. Also present were Permanent Secretary of Defence, Dato Paduka Mustappa bin Hj Sirat; Acting Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces Brigadier General (U), Dato Paduka Seri Hj Mahmud bin Hj Saidin; deputy permanent secretaries of defence, civilian and military directors as well as officers and personnel of the Ministry of Defence and RBAF.

The gathering attended by about 500 personnel was an opportunity to celebrate the Aidilfitri festivity in the month of Syawal, to forgive and visit each other as well as to strengthen closer relationship and professional interaction at all levels of organisation among the civilian and military personnel who have long been portrayed through their excellent and invaluable cooperation and teamwork spirit.

The function also included a religious talk delivered by Ustaz Hj Anwari bin Hj Rawi, an invited speaker from the Hassanal Bolkiah Arabic Secondary Boy's School on the theme, "Qana'ah di Aidilfitri" or "Aidilfitri in Moderation". Qana'ah in Arabic term means sufficient or enough.

This year's Aidilfitri celebration was jointly organised by the Directorate of Operation`s and Directorate of Development and Work Services.

Apart from enjoying the sumptuous meal, the guests also saw some performances of Nasyid and Tausyeh from personnel of the Ministry of Defence. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
