Bandar Seri
Begawan - An Indonesian woman suspected of falsifying documents
and entering the country under a different name was detained by Belait
Immigration Enforcement Section in a raid on Saturday night.
Reports by the section stated after
investigation, officers discovered that the woman had previously
worked in Brunei as a waitress but her work pass was cancelled by her
employer and she returned to Indonesia in March this year.
However, the suspect returned to the
country and produced a new passport bearing a different name and birth
date from the passport used before. She was issued a special pass for
further investigation.
Meanwhile, 35 foreign workers from
Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines were questioned during the
operation codenamed 'Ops Berkas 111', carried out by 11 Immigration
officials and led by Acting Chief Immigration Officer.
The operation started at 11pm and
targeted five work quarters and rented houses housing foreign workers
within the areas of Lumut, Seria and Kuala Belait.
During an inspection in Kampong Lumut,
four Indonesians were issued with special passes requiring them to
produce their original passports to the section for further
investigation. The workers had just arrived in the country last month
and had been hired to work for a construction company, said an
Immigration official.
The Immigration Enforcement Section
said that patrols and inspections will continuously be carried out and
any information relating to Immigration offenders can be directed to
the department's hotline at 3331879/3341938 or 2383555/2383777. -- Courtesy of Borneo
