By Sonia K

Bandar Seri Begawan - Preparations are on track for Asia Inc Forum's annual National Business Conference on November 30.

The number of registered delegates continues to increase while several foreign key speakers have confirmed their participation in the conference.

Among those scheduled to speak at the conference are Dr Surin Pitsuwan, Dr Abdullah Alyahyaey and Ms Elim Chew.

Dr Surin Pitsuwan is the Deputy Leader of the Democrat Party of Thailand, a former Member of Parliament and Foreign Minister. As an MP, he was appointed Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs from 1992-1995 and Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1997-2001.

In September 1999, as Chairman for the Asean Regional Forum, he led the Southeast Asian governments to help restore law and order and brought about peace and security to East Timor. Dr Surin will share his views on post-coup Thailand and its impact on business around the region.

Dr Abdullah Alyahyaey is the Director of Exploration Operations, Ministry of Oil and Gas, Oman. DrAbdullah has extensive experience in Oman's oil and gas industry and is entrusted with the task of continued oil and gas exploration in all onshore and offshore areas in Oman. He will share the Oman story of growth and provide insight on how their experience may benefit Brunei.

Singapore's Ms Elim Chew is an inspiration to many SMEs and regional business leaders alike for steering her business from a small shop to a regional operation. As a street-wear guru who started small in a highly competitive Singapore, Ms Chew will share her knowledge on what it takes to expand the business and succeed. She is the Founder and President of 77th Street (S) Pte Ltd, now a market leader in Singapore's street wear retail industry, and a global business investing in youth shopping malls in China and Asia.

This year's National Business Conference is themed "How will the future be different?" and will bring together more than 300 corporate executives, policymakers and entrepreneurs from Brunei and abroad to discuss opportunities and challenges in the context of Asean and globalisation, in an environment that respects diversity of opinion. The Conference is partnered by TOTAL, Brunei LNG, ING Private Bank and Bearing Point. It is supported by The Empire Hotel and Country Club, RTB and Brunei Press.

Asia Inc Forum has been organising the National Business Conference since 2002. It aims to become a leading facilitator of high level business and public policy dialogue and a channel of influence to the people and institutions shaping Asia's future.
