Two-Day PESAKA Festival

Begawan - Persatuan Melayu Keriam (PESAKA) in Tutong recently
held its 6t'' Pesta Hari Pesaka during the weekend at Dewan Wawasan
Pesaka.
Among the events held during the
twoday festival included a Ramah Mesra Aidilfitri night where
attendees saw performances by youths of the association, a children's
fashion show, a `Terimalah Sampul Surat' show, as well as prize
presentations for karaoke, fashion show and photography competition
winners.
Present as the guest of honour during
Saturday's event was Pg Sabri bin Pg Hj Mohammad, Deputy Director of
Youth and Sports, and spouse.
Meanwhile, aerobics and a brisk walk
were held Sunday morning around Kampong Keriam, led by Orang Kaya Jaya
Putera Hj Mohd Taha bin Rauf, which was followed by a Family Sukan Ria
and educational activities, as well as a photography and home-science
competitions.
Attending Sunday's event, during the
afternoon function, was the guest of honour Dato Paduka Hj Idris bin
Hj Belaman, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The event began with the reading of
surah al-Fatihah led by Imam Hj Kartolo bin Hj Abang, Imam of Kampong
Keriam Mosque, Tutong, which was followed by speeches from the
president of the association, Awg Ahanapi bin Hj Mahadi, and the guest
of honour.
A poetry declamation and the
presentation of awards to three recipients of the Pemimpin Wanita
Berjasa award - Dyg Hjh Halinah bte Hj Mahadi, Dyg Hjh Jainah bte-Hj
Lahap and Dyg Hjh Siti Arbi bin Ahmad - followed.
Prizes were also presented to the
winners of the home festive lights and home-science competitions. The
function concluded with the reading of a doa selamat and a visit to
the viewing galleries on display by the guest of honour and among
