Sea Patrols To Keep Brunei Waters

Begawan - Marine police conducted five to six sea patrols on a
monthly basis to safeguard the nation from illegal entries, smuggling
of contraband goods, illegal fishing activities such as using
unlicensed trawl nets operated both by local and foreign fishermen,
and encroachment by foreign vessels for fishing.
Marine police also conducted daily
and nightly sea patrols in areas near the offshore oil rig, the
country's border with Malaysia and along the Brunei river, including
Pulau Chermin, Ujong Sapoh, Tanjong Kindana and Putat, said a Marine
Police Investigation Officer, who also revealed that recently 13 boats
were inspected but no violations pertaining to the country's
regulations were detected.
Meanwhile, in the last three days,
police arrested nine men and one woman in connection with a series of
theft cases over the past few weeks.
According to police reports, one car
break-in was reported resulting in the loss of a CD player, while
personnel successfully retrieved another car.
One house break-in and theft was
reported in Jalan Maulana in Kuala Belait, while eight theft incidents
were recorded in a secondary school in Berakas, a parking lot near
Pintu Malim primary school, Kg Sengkurong B', Teck Guan Plaza, Kg
Rambai, Kg Sungai Tali, Mile 1 Flat in Jalan Tutong and in Sungai Akar.
Two bags containing jewellery and a
mobile phone, another mobile phone, a grass cutter, a cutter, one gas
cylinder, eight covers and sports rims and tyres were reported stolen.
Another eight theft cases inside a
building were reported at Jalan Gadong, Kg Manggis 2, Jalan Sg Besar,
Jalan Kebangsaan-Kg Pulaie, a tailor shop near Borneo Cinema in the
capital, Kg Sungai Hanching, Kg Anggerek Desa and Perpindahan Lambak
Kanan. Items lost included $150 cash, a mobile phone, a gas cylinder
and two sports car rims.
One demoralising act involving a
woman was reported along with two vandalism, four assault, and one
labour case. Also reported in the last three days were five misuse of
drugs cases involving four men and a woman, and two customs cases
leading to two arrests.
Two immigration cases leading to the
arrest of 25 foreign men and two women were also recorded. There were
14 car accidents with two minor injuries recorded over the last three
