EROPA Council Holds Meeting

Bandar Seri Begawan - The 52nd Eastern Regional Organisation for Public Administration (EROPA) Council meeting was held Monday night and chaired by Nguen Ngoc Nien, Chairperson of the EROPA Executive Council.

The closed-door meeting took place at the Empire Hotel and Country Club in Jerudong and was attended by Dato Paduka Hj Saifon B. Hj Awg Besar, Director General of Public Service of Brunei as the chairperson of the organising committee for the EROPA seminar this year, Patricia Sto Thomas, Secretary-General of EROPA, and representatives from member states.

The council meeting traditionally precedes the EROPA seminar and usually lasts about an hour.

The meeting was expected to include a statement from the chairperson and host country, a summary of the 51st council meeting held in Vietnam, a report by the Secretary-General of EROPA, a discussion of network linkages, EROPA' S development fund, administrative issues such as finance and audit and future plans and programmes of EROPA.

The council meeting was followed by a dinner at the Empire Hotel for council members hosted by Pg Dato Paduka Hj Abd Hamid B. Pg Hj Mohd Yassin, Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
