By Rosli Abidin Yahya

Bandar Seri Begawan - Former soldiers of the Ex-Army Association will be electing new committee members to lead their association to much greater heights at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on November 19, 9am, at the Lecture Hall, Hassanal Bolkiah National Bolkiah, Berakas.

All members are urged to attend the AGM so they can elect leaders of their choice.

Currently, the presidency of the association is being held by Pehin Datu Indera Negara Lt Col (Rtd) Dato Paduka Hj Md Ariffin bin Dato Paduka Hj Abd Wahab.

The Acting Secretary General Pehin Datu Perkasa Col (Rtd) Dato Hj Ishak bin Hj Abd Hamid said the AGM will also seek approval of the financial and activity reports of the association.

"The association activities over the past year will also be up for deliberation during the AGM," he said. The Ex-Army Association has been proactive since its formation and is aimed at looking after the welfare of former soldiers.

The association has organised activities such as religious talks, walkathon, garage sale, tahlil at Kubah Makam Diraja and donations to orphans of late soldiers.

This year the association has organised a 45-kilometre walkathon from Tutong Camp to Berakas Camp to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.

Members of the association were also entitled to agricultural land for agriculture and paddy plantation projects. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
